After 16 years of active ministry and service to Victory, Reverend Adam Tallent and family are taking a Sabbatical for part of 2027. Below is a video submission for the Lilly Endowment grant for clergy renewal and a brief statement from the team that is leading the congregation in it’s proposal…

Sabbatical 2027

A Word From the Sabbatical Planning Team

The purpose for the Tallent family’s sabbatical is for them to experience God’s goodness through rest, renewal, and restoration. The opportunity to travel abroad as a family, to view new scenery, engage in different cultures, taste amazing food, and to walk the land where the apostles encountered Jesus, will allow God's goodness and love to abound toward them in new and exciting ways. The rest, renewal, and restoration that they enjoy will be multiplied back to the congregation when they return as they pour out God’s goodness they’ve received while on sabbatical.  Being freed from pastoral duties, Adam and Charise will have the chance to slow down, take in the beauty of each destination, and tune their ear to the Lord without any pressing demands or schedule. Enjoying this time together as a family will bring refreshment and bonding, which is well deserved after serving faithfully, intentionally and lovingly at the same church for the past 16 years.

As Adam and Charise taste, see, and hear God’s goodness, the congregation will also taste, see and hear all that God has for them. A variety of planned events, speakers, and strategies focused on these themes each month will provide the congregation with opportunities to grow in their walk with the Lord. With practical teaching on renewing the mind, growing in their true identity in Christ, and serving the surrounding community, the congregation will be transformed with a renewed spirit and filled with the joy of the Lord.

While Adam and Charise are away, the congregation will also have opportunities to serve in new and exciting ways. Different spiritual gifts and strengths among the congregation may be discovered, because as Adam and Charise are away, new roles and duties will be required and encouraged. Not only is the sabbatical good for Adam and Charise, but it’s also a chance for the congregation to grow closer as a community, to become more aware of each other’s unique gifts, and to worship together giving thanks for all God has and will do during this sabbatical time.

It will be announced in August 2026 if Victory is awarded the grant from Lilly.

Join us in praying about this opportunity as we wait to hear their decision!
